I am passionate about the physical therapy profession and its future. Since 1995, I have been working in and around the rehabilitative branch of medicine focusing on patient-centered approaches in sports medicine and orthopedics.  I have been fortunate to have had teaching experiences in various physical therapy programs including the University of Southern California (USC), Regis University in Denver, and both the Residency and Fellowship programs for Evidence in Motion. I would love to be share the knowledge I have gained over the years that has been transformative in my own practice with other passionate professionals. Please contact me if you are interested in hosting a professional continuing education course.

Real Time Ultrasound for the Knee, Foot and Ankle

This hybrid ultrasound workshop will be delivered using online and face to face learning strategies. The target audience is physiotherapists, podiatrists or exercise professionals wishing to learn or improve their musculoskeletal ultrasonography skills for the knee, foot and ankle region. This workshop will teach or advance skills in the assessment of the major tendons/fascia of the knee, foot and ankle in addition to rehabilitative imaging of the regional stabilizing musculature (i.e. VMO, popliteus and the foot intrinsics).

The workshop includes an online theoretical component (2 online courses: Introduction to MSK US: 2-2.5 hours and Dynamic Stabilization of the Foot & Ankle: 2-2.5 hours) and a 4 hour face to face practical workshop, live with Dr. Grimaldi on Friday morning (1/12/18). During the live portion of the course, participants will use real time ultrasound imaging machines (provided by Sonosite) to actively assess the knee, foot and ankle regions. The course size will be limited to ensure a participant to ultrasound machine ratio of no more than 3:1. Register early to secure your seat and get the lowest price! California physical therapy CEUs are pending. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided on Friday AM.

Understanding Tendinopathies of the Hip and Pelvis (A Hybrid Workshop)

Tendinopathies of the hip and pelvis represent a large burden on both the sporting and ageing populations. Growing evidence is shaping contemporary, conservative management of tendinopathic disorders. This hybrid workshop offers participants a deeper understanding of tendinopathies of the hip and pelvis regions – specifically, gluteal tendinopathy, proximal hamstring tendinopathy, iliopsoas tendinopathy, iliopsoas related groin pain, adductor tendinopathy and adductor related groin pain. Diagnostic testing for these conditions will be reviewed.  In addition, the workshop provides insight into more recent, effective, clinical intervention strategies involving load management. This portion of the workshop will review a progressive series of rehabilitation exercises for each tendinopathy condition of interest noted above. The information presented has been derived from an emerging evidence base of scientific studies on structure and mechanobiological mechanisms, risk factors, impairments and the available information on intervention effects, in addition to Dr. Grimaldi’s 25 years of clinical experience.

The workshop includes an online theoretical component (3-3.5 hours online) and a 1 and 1/2 day face to face practical workshop, live with Dr. Grimaldi on Friday afternoon (1/12/18) and all day Saturday (1/13/18). During the live portion of the course, participants will use real time ultrasound imaging machines (provided by Sonosite) to actively assess the hip region – specifically, a targeted assessment the hip flexors and abductors effected by tendinopathy at the anterior and lateral hip. The course size will be limited to ensure a participant to ultrasound machine ratio of no more than 3:1. Register early to secure your seat and get the lowest price! California physical therapy CEUs are pending. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided on Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. Additionally, lunch will be provided on Saturday for the course participants.
